Unfortunately junk has happened to my Windows OS and I can't boot it so I will not be able to play Planeshift until I figure out how to install it on Linux.\
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

I think you have to re-fully-download it from the main site in the linux area. www.planeshift.it/download.html scroll to find linux. after that I do not know. Just install and play around with the settings till it works fine.

Ok if there is anything for use to do just ask. The annual festival is coming up on the 18th of June 8:00pm GMT which translates to 19th 8:00am NZT, or even worse for Brisbane Aussies 6:00am 19th. 19th is a Saturday, and the 18th is well d'oh Friday

I just got a marvelous idea that I am wondering if I can do, and if so legally?
Can I run the game off of a flash-drive (some say "zip-drive" or "thumb-drive")

The game should run fine off a USB drive. And it's perfectly legal, PS is free. Just copy the installed files onto the flash drive and it should work fine, I know a few people who use this method to play at school/work because the network doesn't block UDP 7777.
